Daniel Trenner’s Tango Archive
Daniel Trenner’s Tango Archive is a remarkable subscription-based service providing access to much of the video material Daniel collected and created in the 1990s and beyond, including most of the Bridge to the Tango (BTT) instructional videos. I think everyone with any serious interest in tango should subscribe and study some of tango history. For a years subscription, the cost is low, comparable to the price of milonga each month.
As an ongoing project I have been slowly indexing the BTT videos and "transcribing" the steps taught. Ideally, these "guides" would appear on Daniel’s site, but it appears that will take significant web development effort, so I’m making them visible here. Some technical improvements that I haven’t discovered how to do would be:
-
provide links from the timestamp headings into the video at that timestamp
-
provide "clip" functionality similar to that available on YouTube, which would make it easy to turn a particular sequence demonstration into a repeating loop.
If anyone knows how to do either of these things with the video player Daniel is using please let me know.
Note that it is possible to slow down the playback using the video player controls.
